Cast Iron Media sponsors Sports Business Journal’s Media Innovators event

Cast Iron Media recently sponsored Sports Business Journal’s Media Innovators event in New York City, where industry leaders came together to discuss the state of the sports media industry and the direction in which it is headed.

A significant amount of the conference was spent focused on the shift from cable television to streaming, which is of particular interest to Cast Iron Media and to many of the media buyers with whom we partner.

Jimmy Pitaro, Chairman of ESPN and Sports Content for The Walt Disney Company, Mark Lazarus, Chairman of NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, and Luis Silberwasser, Chairman and CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery Sports all spoke about the immense value of sports media and the shift to direct-to-consumer viewing by so many sports fans. And while many consumers still watch live games via cable, viewership there is in decline, just as connected tv viewership increases.

These market trends were the very reason why Cast Iron Media was launched two years ago and why we’ve diligently built out a team of Connected TV experts and invested in developing a platform that allows our clients to effectively shift their media spend to align with consumer behaviors.

As leagues, teams and rights holders shift more of their resources towards growing their direct-to-consumer offerings, we will continue to help ensure that our clients maximize their investment in sports media.
